Privacy Policy
Last updated: 25 October 2026
This policy explains what personal data brutalingo (spain) collects when you use brutalingo at https://brutalingo.com, why we collect it, and the choices you have. For any question about it, write to contact@brutalingo.com.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address, your name if you give one, and a hashed password if you sign up with email. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google. We never see your Google password.
- Learning data: the stories and parts you have read, quiz scores, bookmarks, likes, flashcard practice, your daily activity and streak, and the answers you give when you set up your goals and level.
- Your timezone, so that your day, and your streak, change at your own midnight.
- Technical data that your browser sends with every request, such as your IP address, device and browser type, which our servers need to deliver the pages and keep them secure.
Why we use it
- To provide the service: sign you in, save your progress and suggest stories at your level.
- To send emails you need, such as confirming your email address.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
- To understand how the site is used and improve it, and to measure our advertising, but only if you accept optional cookies.
Cookies and similar storage
Essential: we use a cookie to keep you signed in, and your browser's local storage to remember your settings, such as theme, your cookie choice and, when you are not signed in, your reading progress. The site does not work without these.
Optional (only if you accept): we use Google Tag Manager to load Google measurement and advertising tags. With your consent these tags may set cookies, measure how the site is used, measure the results of Google Ads campaigns, and show you relevant ads on other sites. If you reject, these tags are told they have no permission to store data or to use it for advertising or personalisation. Google may still receive limited signals that do not identify you, such as that a page was loaded.
Your choice is stored on your device. You can change it at any time: . You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and manage Google ads at adssettings.google.com. To learn how Google uses data from sites that use its services, see policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with providers that help us run the service:
- hosting, database and file storage providers;
- an email delivery provider, for the emails described above;
- Google, for sign-in with Google, and (with your consent) Tag Manager and advertising tags;
- YouTube, when you play a video inside a story;
- authorities, where the law requires it.
Some of these providers are outside your country, including in the United States.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and learning data until you ask us to delete your account. Backups and security logs are kept for a limited time and then removed.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, export it, or object to how we use it, and you can withdraw consent to optional cookies at any time. Write to contact@brutalingo.com and we will reply. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
brutalingo is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.
